Welcome behind the scenes of the aquariums

Experience the inside of the Aquarium. Experience what happens behind the aquariums and walk through the keepers' walkway on your own, this is normally a place only zookeepers have access to. You get to see the nine aquariums in the Rotunda from the back. Unfortunately, this area is not universally designed. Best suited for school-age children and older.

In an almost entirely true documentary soap opera-like short film, the penguins at the Aquarium have been given voices. It is the penguins themselves, with the help of a creative voice, who narrate and describe. Get ready to meet Herman Piele, Ulrikke, Bekki, Ninjago and the other penguins. Here it will be educational fun, with a new side of life in the pond. This is a treat for all penguin fans.

Piranha feeding in the Labyrinth

Watch when the piranhas are fed and learn more about these cool fish. They are not as scary as many people make them out to be. They have gained an undeserved reputation for being man-eaters. They may attack bathing humans, especially when the water level is low, but this is a defense mechanism and not their hunting strategy.

Meet a zookeeper

Meet at the meeting point sign in the lobby

Join a zookeeper who will feed, activate or train various animals. The zookeeper chooses an activity based on what is happening at the Aquarium that day. It can be anything from playing with sea lions and otters, to feeding piranhas, seahorses and jellyfish.

The otters get supper
