The first thing that greets you at Bergen Aquarium is the lively bird pond - a natural and engaging habitat where the penguins live. Here you'll experience charming penguins up close, whether they're swimming elegantly underwater or sunbathing on land. This is a unique opportunity for visitors to learn more about penguin life and behavior.

Habitat
The pond is specially adapted to the penguins' needs and gives them the space and environment they need. The keepers then supplement this with toys, rocks, sunshades and other enrichment activities.
Maintenance
In the summer, we empty the pond and wash it every week. That's more often than many people wash their living room floor.
