Freshwater pearl mussel

Freshwater Pearl Mussels need fresh water, and of course they need nutrients in the water - after all, they live by filtering the water. Here at the aquarium, the mussels are fed with duckweed. This is the name of an aquatic plant (Lemna minor) that reproduces and grows incredibly quickly.
